And You Thought You Had a Hard Escrow

Just when you think you've got the toughest clients on earth, listen to what Don Pucilowski of our Coulterville office says about a memorable escrow experience he had:
At one time I had a very small house listed in the Lake Don Pedro Subdivision that I had an acceptable offer on. The owner was of Mexican descent. He spoke no English and worked odd hours on a dairy farm. When I took the listing he told me his wife lived in Los Angeles. What he didn't tell me is that he forgot to tell Sara (his wife) that she was his wife! And being that he didn't speak hardly any English, I had to have a interpreter. One time I had to meet him and the man he worked for at a restaurant in Modesto to go over some questions they had. Then Sara came into the picture and to make a long story short, it was wishful thinking on his part that they were married. However, she was on title for the house and getting her to sign any papers became a nightmare. She would not accept fax or mail. She always wanted to personally come to Don Pedro to go over the papers. And she would come at her own leisure and always on a Greyhound Bus. Fortunately, I had very patient buyers who waited this fiasco out and we finally closed the deal.
