On The Subject Of Blogging – Part 2

In a previous post on blogging (click here to read it) I talked about how having and maintaining a blog will go far to help realtors increase their potential clientele and business. And may I be so bold as to suggest that every single Sugar Pine Realty agent should have their own personal blog. (The good news is you can create one for free at: Blogger.com.) Again, a blog is simply an online information page. And the information you can write about on your blog is endless. You can write about real estate (obviously). You can write about the community. You can write about area restaurants. You can write about area attractions. You can write about area events. Just about anything that tickles your fancy you can write about. And then the mentality behind your blog (as it has to do with your real estate business) is it becomes a portal. By including a link at the top of your blog that goes directly to your real estate website, when people visit your blog, you’re gaining exposure. And then when they’re ready to buy or sell, who are they going to go to? That's right. You! Now about getting your blog to appear higher in the search engines. To do that you need to generate traffic. And so you want to email your farm list, your family, your contacts, friends, acquaintances, etc., and encourage them to visit your blog – and to visit it often. And every time you post to your blog or include a new link, you need to email everyone again inviting them to visit your blog to read the new post or click on the new link. Furthermore on the subject of generating traffic, when it comes to our company, if each of us has a blog (ideally, that’s 50+ blogs) and then each of us visits each other’s blog every day (it doesn’t take long – it’s just five times ten clicks of a mouse), that comes to 50 times 7 days equals 350 visits per week to each of our blogs. And that’s a whole lot of extra traffic which in turn increases your rank in search engines. Which ultimately the potential exists that more people will see who? – YOU! - on the internet and you’ll receive more business. And that's the goal - to list and sell property. Well, that’s all for now. Keep an eye out for article #3 on blogging to come soon.

I have a BLOG and it isn't all about real estate...in fact it has very little to do with real estate--BUT it (my blog name) still gets internet hits. Mike C saw mine yesterday.... I started it mainly for family and friends (and they LOVE it). The "posts" reach all viewies quicker than US mail and much cheaper. Imagine writing a letter to all friends, family and clients, addressing all envelopes, buying the stamps--NOT to mention the time. Plus, blog sites are FREE. Oh yeah, and did I mention FUN?

Good post. What do you think about this? Some people are predicting that blogs are a fad and will pass soon. I know I don’t think so. Not in real estate anyway. I have few favorite real estate blogs, ActiveRain, BloodHound and RealBlogging and they all seem to be doing just fine.
I also have a blog that has very little to do with real estate. I do and will address real estate issues but it is mostly a political outlet for me to vent. I'd love to have everyone reading this vent with me, or flat dis-agree with me. Either way, it makes it fun. The link is: http://politicalwaste.blogspot.com/
