All About Superstitions on Friday the 13th
Tweet |
Are you superstitious? Come on now. Do you get nervous when a black cat crosses your path? Do you step over cracks in the sidewalk? Do you avoid walking under ladders? Do you cross your fingers, hope to die, stick a needle in your eye?
Well, maybe you don't do all the things in the last question, but you still cross your fingers to bring good luck? Hmm? (BTW, the thing behind crossing your fingers - the thought is that evil spirits are warded off since you're making the sign of the Christian faith - a cross.)
And maybe you don't see yourself as superstitious . . . and yet . . . you're careful to not pull out that gray hair because it'll make ten more grow in it's place. Right?
And have you ever thought about those poor folks whose hair is all white? (Of course, it's because they broke the rule!)
And certainly real estate agents would never be superstitious. Or would they?
Former Sugar Pine Realty agent Kathy DeLong does well to discuss this in her blog post: Superstitious or Nutty or Both? I encourage you to read it when you have time.
But getting to the subject of Friday the 13th in particular and since it is today, let me just get to the point - are you going to just stay in bed and miss that up call or lead in your email or person you run in to on the street who knows somebody else who is thinking about selling their house, etc., because of the day it is?
Or are you going to hit the ground running? I mean, every day is a gift (isn't it?) - even Friday the 13th.
The bottom line: There are contacts that are made on this day; There are contracts that are signed; There are escrows that close (maybe not for you, but for somebody else - however, your day is coming); There are both good and bad things that happen every day in real estate and in life. Let's not miss out on the good worrying about the bad.
