Keeping in Touch with Keeping in Touch

Keeping in touch. In other words: Follow-up. It's that action that real estate agents take to communicate with their client base as well as potential clients, new leads, etc. I just read an article stressing the importance of follow-up/keeping in touch in REsource, the GMAC Real Estate Sales-Partners Bimonthly News and Information publication. And just in case you don't get the chance to read it, I thought it gave some helpful reminders as regards follow-up and some good ways of doing it. Like - and it's interesting in this technological age we live in that the first way of follow-up/keeping in touch highlighted was (take a guess): (1) Hand-write notes (of all things). (What? - me use a pen and piece of paper instead of a keyboard? Yes.) When you communicate with someone in your own writing it says they are valued and mean something to you. And isn't that really what you want people to know when you contact them? They'll work with you when they know you care for them. Another way of follow-up/keeping in touch that was mentioned in the article (and I thought this was interesting) was: (2) Ask for testimonials. You've served people. You've sold their homes or helped them buy property. They're satisfied customers. Right? Why not have them record their experience so that you can share it with others? It's another way of follow-up that'll keep you fresh in their minds and it's only a bonus that you'll be able to use their stories to promote yourself. One last way of follow-up/keeping in touch that I want to leave you with (from the publication this time): (3) Use RSS feeds. Beyond just plain emailing, this technology allows your clients to receive your latest notes and musings on real estate on their computer. For more information on how to set up an RSS feed, I don't think I need to tell you who to contact. The bottom line is don't lose touch with keeping in touch.
