How Walker-Friendly is Your Neighborhood?
Just a real quick blog post about another new technology I stumbled upon on the internet. It's called Walkscore. At Walkscore.com you can determine just how walker-friendly a particular neighborhood is by simply typing in an address. And then Walkscore plots out distances to nearby grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, libraries, schools, etc., and tallies up a score. (I typed in my own address and my neighborhood near the Outpost in Soulsbyville is not so walker-friendly according to Walkscore. It only gave Valley Oak Drive in Sonora a 25 out of 100. To see my score, CLICK HERE.) And I guess what maybe a realtor could use Walkscore for is you could type in the address of your listings to see how good their walkscores are and have that available for potential clients to see? If anything, Walkscore is pretty good at plotting nearby amenities, although some of the distances can be a tiny bit off. Check out Walkscore when you get the chance. Hi,
Nice post. It was very interesting to view your score. That was a good find I think. I think this is a good way to accomplish all this.
We use WalkScore.com all the time. Our home in Berkeley's Thousand Oaks Neighborhood has a 92 score - "Walkers' Paradise" That's why we've been here over 25 years.
