Hitting the Target
Tweet |
I reached a goal today. I reached a goal that I set out to reach many days ago and I can't believe I'm already there. I can't believe it (and I'm literally rubbing my eyes) especially since I set out to reach this goal by the end of April and it's come six weeks early. Wow.
Now what the goal is/was really isn't the point. It could have been in my waist line (smaller, not bigger). It could have been in my educational training. It could have been in my finances or personal well-being or in peer relationships, etc. No matter what the area the fact remains (and it's really the point I wanted to make) I would never have reached my goal except that long ago I both determined and chose a target.
Where do you want to be a month from now, 6 months, a year - 5 years?
And what about in the area of a real estate career? Do you want to sell a home a month so that by the end of the year you've sold a dozen? Or do you want to list a dozen homes and work towards double-ending half of those so your total sales volume will be for 12 homes? (For many, I know these aren't lofty goals. But I had to choose some level for an example.)
Whatever you determine your goal to be, it's important to have a target you're shooting at. Because when you do (and if the target is more than just a "I want that" but I'm not willing to do what it takes to achieve it), it'll help you to avoid distractions that will keep you from investing in achieving your goal.
Let me ask it again: So where do you want to be a month from now, 6 months, a year - 5 years? It's time to pick a target (if you haven't yet) and commit yourself to hitting it. You may get there sooner than you think.
