Thunderclouds in the High Country
Tweet |
I've got some rather unique pictures for you today (at least in my mind). They're of the thunderstorm cloud tops as they were beginning to build up over Yosemite yesterday in the early afternoon. No, you can't see Half Dome or El Capitan or anything because these pictures come from the convenience of my own backyard. Yosemite sits approximately 60 miles away (as the crow flies) from the Mono Vista area of Sonora where I live. And it's not unique to me that I am able to view and enjoy these mammoth formations. Pretty much from anywhere in the Mother Lode, the thunderstorm and cloud build up is a common sight to all in the summer. Sometimes the storms even "roll down the hill" to give us a surprise rain drop or two. It's just another one of the many wonders we enjoy living in the Sierra foothills.
