What's valuable to you? What would you be upset over if you lost it? Anything coming to mind?
Of course, what I'm talking about when I ask these questions is: Assets. They are much more than money and property (though that's a part of it). Assets include your health. (It's an asset to be healthy.) Assets include the people in your life (kids, friends, relatives, spouse). Assets include what you do for a living (your job). They include your abilities, your smile (that is an asset, too). There are just a whole lot of things that fit the category that we don't always think about as assets (but they are).
It's a fact of life that dangers exist. Our assets are always at risk. Of course, you can't plan for everything, but you can plan for some things.
It's with this in mind that I've come up with another one of my lists (if you haven't been here before I'm known to do this from time to time). So here we go with...
11 Ways You Can Protect Your Assets:
(what might you add to the list?)
1. Eat right (health asset)
2. Get a locking gas cap for your car (pump prices have skyrocketed ~ siphoning has, too)
3. Lock your door (family asset)
4. Get a will
5. Be aware of your surroundings
6. Equip each child with a cell phone
7. Have a meeting place in case of emergency
8. Don't broadcast when you're out of town via social media (all assets)
9. Get a regular dental checkup (for your smile)
10. Invest in relationships (spend time, time and more time ~ have fun)
11. Practice good decision making
