(The gurus will tell you to write like you speak. So here goes...)
You ever see those high-wire acts? I haven't in person, but the picture I get (before I found the thumbnail) is of a guy in tights climbing a 50-foot ladder, chalking his hands, grabbing a pole, there may or may not be a net below (scary), he steps out on the wire, but there's one thing he must not forget beyond my simple description. (A single word. Starts with a "b." Got it?)
Balance. (I know. You had it from the title.)
It's the most important thing for a high-wire expert not to forget. It's the most important thing (I'd like to suggest) for us not to forget either. (We're high-wire people, too, many of us, especially if you're a mom of small or teenage kids. Right?)
There are some people, their checkbook is out of balance, their credit cards are out of balance, their sleep schedule is out of balance ~ they're eating and drinking is out of balance ~ T-H-E-Y-'R-E out of balance. (The out of balance on the outside is a sign of the out of balance on the inside.)
So what do you do to get back in balance? The first thing is (another "b"): Breathe. (In. out. In out. There.) The second thing you do is apply the following list in your life (it's short and sweet so you can fill in the blanks and in between the lines)...
6 Ways to Get Your Life Back in Balance (plus 1 bonus):
1. Admit you have a problem. (Nothing happens without this.)
2. Commit to making changes. (All "you" again. No one can make you change, but you.)
3. Ask for help (from someone you can trust).
4. Come up with a plan.
5. Don't give up when you stumble. (And you will. But the stumbles will become fewer and far between.)
6. Enjoy the rewards of being back in balance.
BONUS: Reach out to someone else who's out of balance and help them.

This is such a timely and effective blog. You don't claim wisdom but it shows here. I will use this teaching because you also offer a second chance..after the stumble.
