5 Reasons Why a Realtor® Should Tweet
Tweet |
You pretty much have had to be away on an island in the South Pacific (maybe you wish you were?) to have not heard about the latest social media tool and craze: Twitter. And just to help you see the forest for the trees in case you're interested in how Twitter might be helpful to you personally in your real estate business, I've got a real quick and simple list of 5 reasons why a realtor should tweet. (Just in case you didn't know, "tweeting" is the term used for communicating on Twitter.) And so here are the five reasons...
Reason #1: You can gain/access useful real-time (right now) information on any subject including real estate. (Google isn't necessarily "real-time.")
Reason #2: You can network with like-minded professionals both in and out of the area. People in your field you might never have had the chance to connect with, now you can simply and easily.
Reason #3: You can find out/listen in on what people are saying about real estate and buying and selling property. You can then engage them in conversation, answering their questions, offering insight, etc.
Reason #4: You can offer useful information yourself (not just real estate information) on the local area. Write blog posts highlighting what your area has to offer in restaurants, recreation, etc., and then "tweet" them for others to read and respond to.
Reason #5: You are able to go where the people are from the convenience of your computer. Many of the old school approaches to doing real estate are important and good. But there's a new generation of buyers and sellers that you don't want to forget. They're on Twitter (as well as other social media sites). You need to be there, too.

This is great! Social media is an underused marketing tactic that people in real estate should be taking advantage of, especially those that buy rental properties. Social media has the power to drawn in high-quality tenants, gives you a platform to share news and tips with others, and is a great place to advertise vacancies. Plus, social media is a great way for those in the real estate industry to hone their craft and learn from the mistakes of others so they can be better.
Great post! Social media us an underused marketing tool that all property owners can and should take advantage of. From advertising vacancies to sharing information with current tenants, social media offers you a great way to extend your reach, help you build your reputation, and network with other real estate professionals. It's also a great place to source information for yourself. The more you learn about the industry you're in, the better off you'll be in the future. Things are always changing and people will always need a place to rent. But if you can't keep up with the competition, you'll find yourself struggling.
I love that you've shared this information with people. Whether you're a real estate agent, a property owner that's self-managing a rental, or a property manager, establishing a social media presence can help you find great deals, reach a wider tenant pool, and add value to those that have trusted their properties to you. Thank you for sharing. I hope everyone in the real estate agency takes this advice to heart.
