New Technology Info
Tweet |
There's some relatively new web technology I wanted to give you a heads up on (in case you haven't come across it yet). First of all, there's Blinkx where you can search and view seven million hours of video (in between selling property, of course). Much like YouTube, you can see all kinds of stuff on Blinkx, but I thought it was interesting that even one of our own Sugar Pine Realty listing slideshows appears on Blinkx. (Click here to view.) You just never know where you'll pop up on the web when you avail yourself of the free opportunities to market your properties (ie. Postlets, Craig's list, vFlyer, et al). A second technology is the Opera browser. (Download it here: Opera 9.2.) One of the cool things about Opera is it's speed dial feature. Speed dial allows you to choose websites that you frequent and, just like on your cell phone, you can input these on the speed dial screen and then you can go straight to your page or switch back and forth between them quickly and easily. Another Opera feature is their Widgets library. Widgets are small web-based programs (ranging from games to weather reports to news, etc.) that you can include on your websites and blogs. You name it, there's probably a widget for it. Check out Opera Widgets. And you'll also want to check out Widgetbox where I actually found real estate widgets. No kidding. To the right of this post (and little bit down in the sidebar) you'll notice the Real Estate Dictionary widget which (1) gives you definitions of real estate terms (obviously), (2) allows you to search for terms and (3) appears every 24 hours with a brand new real estate "term of the day." Today's term is "garnishment." Do you know what "garnishment" means? Look to the Real Estate Dictionary widget to find out if you're right. I'll be posting some more real estate widgets in the near future. Contact me if you have any questions regarding these new technologies.
