Lumber Jubilee This Weekend!

Tuolumne City doesn't get much press versus other cities in the Mother Lode. But this weekend it's all about Tuolumne City! The annual Lumber Jubilee is taking place in town starting tonight at 7 p.m. with the Queen coronation. And then for the rest of the weekend after that, there's a parade that takes place on Saturday at 11 a.m. Booths will be set up in Memorial Park with games to play and souvenirs to be purchased. There's a pancake breakfast, $5.00 each for all you can eat, on Saturday and Sunday mornings. And then the climax of the weekend is the Lumber Show that takes place on Sunday afternoon. And the climax of the Lumber Show is the grueling tug-o-war. Two six-man teams pull on a rope for anywhere from a half hour to sometimes over an hour to see which team gives up and has the flag pulled over the line first. I've personally viewed the tug-o-war in the past and all I can say is it's a "must see" and worth every penny. If you have some time, check out the Lumber Jubilee this weekend. You'll be glad you did. To view the Lumber Jubilee website, click here: Lumber Jubilee 2007.
