What If the Unthinkable Happens?

What's your plan in case of a fire? For those of us in the Sierra foothills, it's a question that can't help but be asked especially in light of the South Lake Tahoe fire that broke out Sunday afternoon. And so what if the unthinkable happens here? Are you ready? My wife and I discussed it and, quite frankly, we weren't ready. We didn't even have a plan of what we would take should we be called upon to leave at a moment's notice. And so she came up with a list. She showed it to me. I saw she had the kids on it and the cat (of course). I looked at the list a second time and said, "Honey, but you forgot one little thing. Me!" She smiled. Then she said, "Well, you're a given." ******* And so what would or wouldn't be on your list to take (husband/wife)? And what about your yard? Do you have the weeds down and the trees trimmed? And your car? Do you have at least a half a tank of gas? It's the least we can do living in this wonderful place often referred to as "God's country," but it's also a tinderbox at the same time (especially now). Any way we can prepare ourselves ahead of time will help make things easier should the unthinkable happen.
