Key Ingredients of a Real Estate Agent

When we want to make a cake, we need to first be sure we have all the right ingredients. We need flour. We need eggs. We need butter, etc. We then mix all the ingredients together. Pop it in the oven. And voila! We have a deliciously, yummy cake. Right? Mmm! When we want to "make" a real estate agent, we must first be sure we have all the right ingredients as well. So what are some key "ingredients" of a realtor (or, for that matter, for anyone in any career)? In my perusings of the web I came across a site that offered the following three ingredients. The first one was (and see if you agree): A realtor needs to be a people-person. Being a people-person requires things like communication/listening skills, a sensitivity to needs, etc. But probably the most crucial element of a people-person is patience. If you're not patient, you're probably not going to do very well with people (or in real estate). The second ingredient of a realtor this website suggested was: A realtor needs to be detail-oriented. Have you ever dealt with someone who's not good with details? It can be very frustrating especially when you're talking about writing contracts and everything else a real estate agent must become good at. You likely won't gain a lot of friends among other realtors if you're not detail-oriented. The third and final ingredient (of course there are others) this website mentioned was: A realtor needs to be enthusiastic. "Hip hip hurrah! Go team! You can do it! Don't give up!" If there's anything that's gonna carry you through a challenging market, it's being positive and seeing the glass as half-full. And enthusiasm can also make you an agent buyers and sellers will flock to. One people-person, detail-oriented, enthusiastic (deliciously, yummy) real estate agent coming right up. Mmm!
