Techie Tips Series Launch: StrokeIt
Tweet |
This is a new blog post series I'll be bringing to you in the coming days: offering computer tips to make your life easier on the computer (hopefully). I came across another new technology quite by accident. This one's called StrokeIt. Most of us techies know about keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl-C (Copy); Ctrl-V; (Paste); Ctrl-X (Cut); Ctrl-Z (Undo), etc. But how many of you know about mouse shortcuts? That's what StrokeIt's all about. It's a program you can download that enables your mouse, through different gestures, to perform common functions within the computer programs you use. For instance (and this is my favorite), in either the Internet Explorer or Firefox browsers - and let's say you're viewing multiple pages - you've gone to the Sugar Pine Realty website and then to the Drudge Report and then to weather.com and then to your favorite blog, etc. - well, by holding down your mouse's right-click button and dragging a line to the left across the web page you're on and then letting go, it will go back to your previous page - voila! To go forward in your browser, hold down your right-click button and drag a line to the right across the page and let go. This is just one of the cool tricks you get with StrokeIt. And there are many more. To download the program, CLICK HERE. To learn more about how to use StrokeIt after you've installed it, CLICK HERE. (Please note that StrokeIt is free for individual use only. Please honor their request.) Be watching for Techie Tip #2 to come soon.
