Well, regular unleaded at the OutPost in Soulsbyville hit $3.79 as of this morning on the way to work. (Ouch.) And it's getting to the point where I just grab what I need at the grocery store and close my eyes. How 'bout you? Which got me to thinking about the good ol' days. Time for a time warp. You'll notice below the comparable prices of various items in the years 1960 and 1980 and then my best guess on prices today based on where I shop and buy gas in the Mother Lode. Both graphs are gleaned from Headline News 1960 and Headline News 1980, respectively. (Each site includes top songs, academy award winners, shows on TV and hot new toys of those years and others. It's kinda cool.) So here we go with the way we were versus the way we are (click to enlarge):
