Some people manage their time the "run around like a chicken with your head cut off" way. (Know anyone like that?) They're the type that think that being in a hurry and frantic gets things done.
Then there are those that manage their time by (how can I say it?) yap, yap, yapping and then yapping some more. Literally, their jaws never stop flapping long enough for anyone else to get a word in edgewise let alone for them to get any work done. (Know anyone like that?)
And then there are those who ~ I hate to say it, but it's true ~ they just don't do anything. I know that's a bit of a stretch to say that about anybody. Of course, these take a shower, comb their hair, brush their teeth, etc. But that's about as far as they get and the extent of it. When it comes to working, they just don't. Oh, but they'll be at the party on Friday night and tell you so. (Know anyone like that?)
Which brings me to a real quick and balanced approach (as opposed to the aforementioned) to time management. See if you agree with my thoughts on it (what might you add?)...
A Balanced Approach to Time Management:
1. Show up.
2. Be all there.
3. Have a plan. (Write it down.)
4. Stick to your plan.
5. Do the hard stuff first. (Don't put off.)
6. Factor in interruptions.
7. Keep your cool.
8. Schedule in free time.
9. Take pleasure in a good day's work.
10. Ask another person to point out blind spots in your approach.

Great post, great advice! I find that it makes a huge difference to regard time in the same way we see money: as something very valuable, that needs to be invested wisely.
A practical tip: decide on your highest priority and outline three action items for each day. Do this before going to sleep or before leaving work. That way, you will always know what the important things are each day.
