7 More of the Many Voices We Listen To
Tweet |
Who are you listening to? This is now the second time I'm asking the question just in case you didn't listen to me the first time (in: 7 of the Many Voices We Listen To.) ;D
And have you ever stopped to think about the "voice" behind why you're doing what you're doing? My mom used to say, "Take out the garbage," and I would do it. (I was a good boy.) She would say, "Clean your room." (Pause) Actually, she didn't need to say it, I already had it done. (Did you have a sibling like that? It was me in my home.) And so when I was younger my mom's voice (just like your mom's for you?) was why I did certain things.
Now that I'm older (and mom's not around) there are other voices telling me, "Do this", "Don't do that", "Jump." And I say, "How high?" Without even thinking it through many times I just respond. (Is it true for you?) A problem arises, however, when we're responding to destructive/controlling voices versus constructive/caring ones. Only you can determine which voices you're listening to. Only you can decide to make a change. That said, here are seven more of the many voices we listen to. Which one(s) do you listen to most?
7 More of the Many Voices We Listen To:
1. Voice of the crowd
2. Voice of guilt
3. Voice of good counsel
4. Voice of resignation (throw up your arms)
5. Voice of manipulation
6. Voice of bitterness
7. Voice of let it go (forgiveness)
