Time to Hit the Reset Button?
Do you remember when you first got your job? You were just so happy to be working (again ~ for some of you). And you were just so relieved to be done with filling out applications and mailing out resumes and going to interviews, etc., only to find out later that they hired somebody else. Right? ("All that hassle and gas for nothing?")
And then came your first day at work. Most of us are just thrilled to be wherever it is. We may have even just come from a bad situation to one that offers much promise and opportunity. And so we're chomping at the bit, ready to go, with smiles on our faces and high energy gumption. We even punch in early and don't care about staying late. The day flies by. We can't wait to get back again. (I'm exaggerating a little to make a point.)
But then something happens to us. It's not always the case, but oftentimes it is. Time passes. And more time. And more still. And we find ourselves not so much chomping at the bit like we were at the beginning, ready to go, with smiles on our faces and high energy gumption. We may even barely punch in by eight (sometimes after) and we're gone exactly at five (sometimes before) ~ if we even come in at all. ("She's calling in sick again?")
There are many reasons for it. But the bottom line is we can go back to where we started. We can go back to Square 1. Maybe it's time for some of us to hit the reset button? And what if just half of us did it, how might it transform an office/workplace?
