13 Excuses People Use
Tweet |
We've all used an excuse or two in our lives. (Oh, you've used more?) And basically what we're saying when we offer an excuse is we're not responsible. Right? That's really what it boils down to. That's really what's at the root of an excuse. And since we're not culpable (deserving condemnation or blame), we're not to be held accountable for whatever it was that happened or didn't happen ~ that got done or didn't get done. It was the fault of someone or something else (or a combination of both). To make an excuse is to judge ourselves innocent (from our own point of view), to declare ourselves "not guilty," to let ourselves off the hook (go free). Some people are in bondage to excuse-making. They are the worst people to work with and/or have working for you.
