14 Ways People Are Manipulated
Tweet |
Manipulation. It happens when one person exercises some form of control over another person.
There are good forms of manipulation (like a parent protecting a child from harm) and there are not so good forms of manipulation. Some of us are more easily manipulated by the "not so good forms" than others.
It may be that we don't like confrontation (so we give in) or we want to be liked or we can't stand being rejected or we want to be a part of what everybody else is doing ~ it could be just about anything at the root of why we allow ourselves to be taken advantage of by a manipulator.
And I guess the simple answer and protection against manipulation is to dig deeper (read the "fine print") when it comes to whatever we're being "sold." Make sense? That said, here are...
14 Ways People Are Manipulated:
(have any that you would add?)
1. By the news media
2. By a charismatic personality
3. By deception
4. By lies
5. By anger
6. By a wink
7. By sex
8. By money
9. By temptation
10. By a smile
11. By a promise of success/prosperity (lottery, casino)
12. By a "hurry up" situation ("this sale won't last long")
13. By the crowd (peer pressure)
14. By fear

How about by manipulation by Facebook? Facebook says membership is free and always will be. Ummmmmmmmm..... capturing all a person's friends, what we like, making a profile accessible to anyone who's there just because someone is in the system, following a person around all over the internet.... yea, Facebook is KING of manipulation.
