Realtors® on the Verge of Extinction
Tweet |
To say real estate has changed is an understatement. (Ya think?) It used to be the phone. Right? It used to be that you'd sit at a desk (playing solitaire?) waiting for the phone to ring. And it would. (Sometimes a lot.) You'd answer the phone, "Hello, Sugar Pine Realty. How can I help you?" And there'd be a person on the other end wanting information. Remember those days? Just like the dinosaur, they are close to extinction (if not totally extinct already). That phone hardly makes a peep anymore. That phone is largely silent with SMS and Facebook and Twitter and all the other preferred forms of communication out there.
And when people are contacting us (whatever way they choose to do it) they're not looking for information anymore. Uh uh. No way. They already have that from the internet. They've been looking for homes online well before texting, tweeting or emailing a real estate company or agent. And if they're wanting to sell their home, well, they've been visiting websites and fan pages and reading blogs, paring down and weeding out which professionals to call or not call.
Are they able to find you? Do you even appear in a Google search in your area? If you're not there (or can't be found even though you are), then you can forget about it. Not only will the days of waiting for the phone to ring be extinct, you will be, too.
