10 Mistakes People Make with Morale (plus 1 bonus):
(morale: "emotional or mental condition with respect to cheerfulness, confidence, zeal, etc., especially in the face of opposition, hardship, etc." ~dictionary.com)
1. Forget there is an ebb and flow to it (can't always be "up"; won't always be "down").
2. Deny the truth which contributes to lowering morale.
3. Neglect regular communication which which helps lift spirits.
4. Avoid dealing with problems which only heightens frustrations.
5. Treat associates with disrespect, yet expect respect in return.
6. Offer no (or very few) affirmations for jobs well done.
7. Forget (overlook?) birthdays and other special days of associates.
8. Constantly speak negatively which affects everyone around them.
9. Expect others to pick up the slack for irresponsible associates.
10. Cancel holiday parties and other events that allow for fun/bonding.
BONUS Favor (give the benefit of the doubt to) certain associates over other associates (for whatever reason).
