Lightning fast read meant to make you think...
10 Mistakes People Make with New and Old (plus 1 bonus):
1. Think new is always better than old.
2. Think old is always better than new (good ol' boys syndrome).
3. Scoff at old.
4. Scoff at new.
5. Overlook how old can become new (be revitalized) via a fresh perspective.
6. Embrace new just because it's "new" (not always wise).
7. Are paralyzed by the "But we've always done it this way" mindset.
8. Are easily enticed (distracted) by the shiny new object (another type of paralysis in the sense that they neglect/drop what they were doing prior to the shiny new object's appearance).
9. Forget that both new and old have their good and bad qualities (takes discernment to know what to embrace, keep, dismiss, let go).
10. Forget there really is "nothing new under the sun." (Ecclesiastes 1:9)
BONUS Rationalize that it's better to have new and be broke than to keep old and not be burdened with debt ("We gotta keep up with the Jones' after all").
