Lightning fast read meant to make you think...
10 Mistakes People Make with Trust (plus 1 bonus):
1. Overlook that trust is a part of everything in life (when you sit in a chair, you are trusting the chair will hold your weight; when you drive your car through a green light, you are trusting that the other cars are stopping at their red light, and so on).
2. Offer trust to those who don't deserve it.
3. Offer trust to those who have not been vetted (vet: "to appraise, verify, or check for accuracy, authenticity, validity, etc").
4. Forget that trust must be earned (via good character proven over time).
5. Overlook that trust starts with the little things (he who is faithful in little is faithful in much).
6. Demand it ("Trust me") while continuing to live an untrustworthy lifestyle.
7. Play off others sense of trust to manipulate and defraud.
8. Forget you can't really know someone is trustworthy except through challenging times.
9. Are unwilling to admit when they've broken trust (even when caught).
10. Overlook that once trust is lost, it's pretty much gone forever (so don't cheat on your spouse).
BONUS Don't offer forgiveness to those who've broken trust (it's hard, but important to do with someone who is truly repentant).

Unbelievable how I had failed to realize how we trust everything. I will never look at things the same. It is simple to trust a chair as long as it continues to support us. The second it fails, we will forever doubt every chair. Wow! @Robin_Matteri
