Lightning fast read meant to make you think...
10 Mistakes People Make with Blogging (plus 1 bonus):
1. Forget to pursue their writing passion (what topic lights your fire?).
2. Compare themselves with others who have either been at it longer or are better at blogging than they are (just be the best person YOU can be).
3. Expect that they will have thousands of readers right from the start (most, if not all, bloggers can go for years without much readership/recognition).
4. Use "big words" that normal people won't understand.
5. Write purely to generate blog traffic (people can tell and will never return to your blog - ever).
6. Overlook working ahead and its benefits (me: two weeks ahead at two blog posts per week means I have four blog posts done and in the queue at any given time).
7. Don't realize they can gain a day off (or two) by posting a cool video (search YouTube) or infographic (search Visually) instead of a text post.
8. Don't realize the help of recycling (once you've been blogging for a while, go back to your archives and repackage a post in a slideshow for example).
9. Are afraid to "copy" other bloggers' approaches (study the big boys and mimic them).
10. Forget to plan for writer's block.
BONUS Overlook the imperative of writing an attention grabbing, eye-capturing title/headline.
