10 Mistakes People Make with Common Sense (plus 1 bonus):

1. Think people have it (some don't).
2. Take it for granted with kids ("just use your common sense") and then get mad when something goes wrong.
3. Don't use their own (don't have any to use?).
4. Overlook that common sense needs to be taught.
5. Don't make allowances for others' lack of it (e.g. when you get a green light, still look both ways before proceeding).
6. Overlook that common sense is "caught" (by example).
7. Forget that common sense is becoming less common (were people smarter in the past or is it just me?).
8. Go against it when they know better (don't keep driving when you've only had a few hours sleep).
9. Overlook that the majority doesn't always agree with what common sense would say (common sense says "this", but most people choose to do "that").
10. Misapply it (common sense says, "Don't talk to strangers," but how are you ever going to meet anybody new?).
