Lightning fast read meant to make you think...
10 Mistakes People Make with Email Campaigns (plus 1 bonus):
1. Don't have one (email is still regarded as the best way to reach people compared to popular social media platforms, etc).
2. Include a bunch of text to read (people don't have that kind of time).
3. Forget to keep the email itself short and to the point (to view an example of ours, click here).
4. Overlook the importance of the email subject line (craft to grab interest).
5. Think that open and click rates will be high (the exception, not the rule).
6. Include empty (banal) information in their emails (and then wonder why so many unsubscribe).
7. Forget to give away something free from time to time (e.g. an eBook).
8. Don't have a way to capture (gather) new subscribers/email addresses (we use SumoMe on our blog).
9. Don't have a way to mass email that offers templates and a way to track opens and clicks (we use MailChimp).
10. Overlook the benefit to subscribing to other people's newsletters and emails so as to compare their approach (no sense in reinventing the wheel).
BONUS Overlook the CAN-SPAM Act which requires getting people's permission to send them emails.
