10 Habits to Avoid So You Don't Get Fat
Tweet |
I have a confession to make. (Did your ears just perk up after you read that?)
We all like to hear "confessions." Right? And so here I go with mine: My belt buckle had become a little bit tighter in recent years. Which was kind of a surprise to me since I've always been a relatively skinny guy. Yes, something happened when I got into my mid 40s that I'd only heard others talk about. And quite frankly, I thought, "That'll never happen to me. No way. I will never have to worry about weight."
Well, so much for that.
Now don't get me wrong. It's not like I need to go on the "Biggest Loser" TV show anytime soon. But I am moving in a different direction that I haven't been used to for the better part of my adult life. (Excuse me a moment while I loosen my belt. There. That's better.)
Which brings me to the list below. It's developed to be a reminder to me (and you, too?) that if I am to avoid a further increase in my waistline, I need to turn away from certain things while turning towards other things.
And so here are...
10 Habits to Avoid So You Don't Get Fat:
1. Eating too much.
2. Sitting for long periods of time in front of a computer screen all day.
3. Watching TV a lot (avoid being a couch potato).
4. Not exercising.
5. Drinking alcohol.
6. Consuming chocolate regularly.
7. Visiting fast food restaurants often.
8. Avoiding fruit and vegetables.
9. Failing at diets.
10. Not being able to say, "No."
