1. Believe they are being told the truth.
2. Overlook the "agenda" that often shapes reporting.
3. Don't account for reporters' bias.
4. Don't account for reporters' prejudice.
5. Forget to consider varying accounts for balance (e.g. opposing vantage points).
6. Will report what they know is untruthful since they are being paid a lot.
7. Have not trained themselves to "read between the lines."
8. Leave out some of the facts (purposely or not) which skews perceptions.
9. Think media manipulation only exists via the "other side of the aisle" (the opposing major political party).
