Watch Out in a Parking Garage
Tweet |
I don't know if you had a chance to see the Union Democrat yesterday. Highlighted on the front page was Black Oak Casino's new construction of a six-story, 1,000 space parking garage. Which got me to thinking about parking garage safety. I used to live in an apartment complex in the Bay Area. We had a parking garage under the complex where someone crawled through the sun roof into my car and stole my wallet out of the glove box. And they could have just taken the money and left the rest, right? But no. I had to get a new driver's license, social security card, et. al. It goes without saying I shouldn't have left my wallet in the car. I know. But beyond that, you can become a prime target for things beyond theft in a parking garage - especially the ladies. You just can't be too careful. To that affect I've got a link below to an article by Sheila Wilkinson called: "How to Stay Safe in a Parking Garage." In it she offers a number of tips to keep in mind no matter what parking garage you find yourself in. Among them are these:
Have a hands-free cell phone handy with 911 on speed dial
Always be aware of your surroundings
For females: see if you can get a male to escort you
Do all you can do to not look like an easy target
