Lightning fast read meant to make you think...
10 Mistakes People Make with Planning (plus 1 bonus):
1. Don't do it (don't plan) and pay for it.
2. Carry / hold on to (don't let go of) the baggage (failures) of the past (which hinders any movement forward).
3. Forget to brainstorm over a period of time (it's good to take a break from your planning and come back to it later with fresh perspective).
4. Forget to set themselves up for success (choose a reasonable goal or two and write down how to get there ~ so you know when you arrive).
5. Look at their plan through rose-colored glasses (too Polly Ann-ish).
6. Look at their plan through Eeyore's eyes (too pessimistic).
7. Overlook the importance of understanding personal abilities (know your strengths and weaknesses, etc).
8. Don't seek out another person's perspective on their plans (be open to constructive criticism).
9. Overlook studying the "experts" and what they are doing and mimic them (whatever your pursuit, "experts" are at your finger tips via the web and Google).
10. Forget the importance of down time and rest for rejuvenation and clearing the mind to help better implement plans.
BONUS Overlook the importance of a good (positive) attitude.
