Lightning fast read meant to make you think...
10 Mistakes People Make When They're Backed into a Corner (plus 1 bonus):
1. Throw up their hands wanting to quit while saying, "What's the use?"
2. Make rash decisions in response (rash: "acting or tending to act too hastily or without due consideration").
3. Don't plan for these kinds of times (it's important to be ready for anything).
4. Fight and yell and kick and scream (when staying calm and keeping your head so you can figure a way out is best).
5. Forget how they survived past times of being backed into a corner (breeds confidence that you will survive present circumstances).
6. See being backed into a corner as the end of the road (versus maybe the start of something new and better?).
7. Don't encourage themselves during a crisis (read a book or watch a movie about others who have overcome impossible odds).
8. Become an island when they're in trouble (find somebody to talk to instead).
9. Want it to be over quickly, but that's not always possible (everything fixed in the time frame of a 30-minute sitcom is not real life / it most often takes a process of time to overcome/recover/get back on your feet).
10. Overlook the strength of character that being backed into a corner can build.
BONUS Overlook how it fosters sympathy/empathy for others who find themselves in a similar situation.
