10 Mistakes People Make with the Elderly (plus 1 bonus):
1. Stick them in a rest home and forget about them.
2. Overlook the wisdom they have to share.
3. Forget that they will be an elderly person one day, too (it comes faster than you think).
4. Overlook they are oftentimes alone during the holidays.
5. Forget they have feelings (emotions), too.
6. Forget they can enjoy just as much happiness in their later years as in their younger years.
7. Overlook that something as simple as a cane can help with standing and balancing.
8. Don't realize how much longer the elderly are living (life expectancy in the United States in 2016 is 79 years).
9. Think that flu shots are a "cure all" (Read: Flu Shots May Not Protect the Elderly or the Very Young).
10. Are ignorant of the signs of Dementia, Parkinson's, Alzeimer's, etc.
BONUS Don't realize that a wrong prescription may be the reason behind odd behavior.
