Lightning fast read meant to make you think...
10 Mistakes People Make with Memorial Day (plus 1 bonus):
1. Think Memorial Day is to honor war vets (no, that's what Veterans Day in November is for).
2. Think it's just a day off.
3. Think it's just a day for barbecues.
4. Think it's just a day to be lazy.
5. Think it's just a day to sleep in.
6. Don't realize its main purpose is to memorialize America's war dead (and not veterans of war).
7. Forget there are many patriotic party and decoration ideas available online to help enhance the celebration of Memorial Day.
8. Forget there are many food ideas available online to help enhance the celebration of Memorial Day.
9. Don't realize it was originally called Declaration Day and borne out of the Civil War.
10. Have never heard about the founder of Memorial Day ("In May 1868, General John A. Logan, the commander-in-chief of the Union veterans’ group known as the Grand Army of the Republic, issued a decree that May 30 should become a nationwide day of commemoration for the more than 620,000 soldiers killed in the recently ended Civil War.")
BONUS Don't pause to consider just how much they owe those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms they enjoy.
