10 Mistakes People Make with Retirement (plus 1 bonus):
1. Don't plan for retirement.
2. Don't save for retirement.
3. Have a Pollyannish view of retirement.
4. Think its a guaranteed thing that they will live that long (many die before retirement age comes).
5. Haven't heard about the Social Security website available to help with retirement questions.
6. Believe that Social Security will still be available to support them (maybe, maybe not).
7. Have a false idea that they can live on Social Security alone if it still is available to support them.
8. (For kids with parents at retirement age) Forget to love and help them.
9. (For kids with parents at retirement age) Overlook that they might not have enough to live on.
10. Don't consider the importance of life insurance in retirement planning.
BONUS Overlook that it's important to downsize (get rid of stuff) beforehand (it will make things a whole lot easier).
